This Morning

At 5:30am my Dad and I went out into the winter wonderland.

Since the plumbing is not working we get our water at the well.

We bring with us a lantern, pots, pans, and a bucket.

Then we scope the water out of the well into the bucket, and pots. We then boil the water, and strain it, so we can drink it!

So that's my morning adventure! Getting water from the well!

Back from the summer!

I kind of gave up blogging for the summer because I was super busy. I had odd jobs, like babysitting, camp jobs, and stuff like that. We also moved about three times. Once into tents, and my friends house, which I mentioned awhile back. Now we finely live in a house of our own, and things are still crazed!

Plumbing is frozen....

we live on a hill......

and it seems we get snowed in every Sunday.....

Can't have a dog yet.

( Not that it really matters)

Still I like it here!

This is our house with my sister outside it.

I also got some new pets! About six chickens!

The white/brown one is my favourite. Our friend said it would be a rooster, so I named him Max!

All in all, I'm glad we are still living in the country. There was some talk of moving to the city, and I nearly died at the thought! At least I can still keep this blog's name! I'm not sure what I would have called it in the city. "Life Gone Wrong?" I don't know.

Now to what is happening in the moment.

It's Advent!!!
(My sister painted this picture of a Advent wreath and It really suits the season!)
I made an advent wreath today! And the candles!

My Mom took a real nice photo of me making it!

I  put the leftover leaves on the door frame
With the leftover wax, I let the little ones make their own candles.

Tomorrow is Monday! A school day. The bus comes at 6:05am. (Way too early) So this means it's time for me to get some rest, or I will never be able to drag myself out of bed tomorrow.

24 days till Christmas!!!

Why I havn't been blogging......the story of my epic life.

So it's been about all summer since I've blogged, and I don't blame you if you have stopped viewing this blog because I havn't been on the ball. But I have a good excuse. So, from the beginning; we had to move out of our rental house. Yah. So two weeks later after busy packing and stress and etc, we had no where to live, but had to move. So we went to living in tents. I was gone, doing a program in Montreal. So I really missed out on the two weeks of camping, but here is what the rest of the family lived through.
- Two eight people sized tents.
- No electricity
- No water
- And more isolation than before
They
- Washed in the pond
- Bought bottles of water
- All slept together
- and really hoped hard for something to happen before winter.
I got back from the hospitalty program in Montreal. (which was centered on profesional hospitality, and on being a lady. Yah, me a lady! A crazy lady, but a lady.) lol. I found out when I got home that my family had moved into our friend's house.....

And in my next blog post you will hear some more about this crazy adventure.

Snake bite!!!!!!!!!

So I have had a real backwood Canadian experiance. I was working at a camp called Chilawee Trails as a kitchen assistant, and after doing some chore ( forget which one) I came outside and some people were getting over excited about a garter snake. They were afraid it would scare the kids and etc. I had seen my brother pick up one of these kinds of snakes so I thought "No problem, I'll just pick it up." So I grabbed it as close to the head as I could and lifted it up. Well I guess I wasn't close enough to the head and it swung around and bit me. Now you would imagine that it would hurt, but it didn't hurt at all. I wasn't even sure if it's teeth had penetrated my skin yet.( I just learned that garter snakes don't have fangs, but have bass like teeth. a cool fact!!) Anyhow I knew garter snakes were not poisonous so I just lifted his jaws off my knuckles and posed for several pictures like the one above, then I carried it to the road and put it on the side of the road and watched it slither away. They are truly cool creatures and leave an amazing looking mark on your body when they bite! lol. Anyway hopefully next time I pick up one of those snakes I don't get bitten. It's kind of cool though that I can say I have been bitten by a snake!!!

                       Journey to the Father.

So this weekend my sister and I went to a Catholic Youth Conference in St. Raphael's Ontario, which is also in the middle of no where except that teens all across Ontario/Montreal go there once a year to grow and celebrate their faith.

We got to the place, after four hours of driving in tornado weather. (not joking there were tornado warnings) and had to go immediately inside the school's gym when we got there because of the annoying warning. We stayed in there for about three/four hours till the storms passed. Then headed outside and headed to our tents.

Girls tent.

The weekend went as followed.
Every person there got a water bottle with the event's logo on it.
We all got to sleep on mats on the bare ground. ( There were so many ants, but sleeping on the ground was still kind of cool.)

The outhouses were right next to the tents.

They also had  these cool things you could wash your hands with.
You put your meals in MC Donald bags.

Activities ranged from daily mass, praise and worship, talks, skits, adoration, workshops, and the rosary.
During free time you could swing, play sports, go to the shop in the school, pray, meet new people, or visit the ruins.
The ruins of St Raphael's.

Over all the retreat was great!!! It is always the highlight of my summer. Can't wait till next year! Hopefully there won't be tornado warnings next time.

Stormy days.

With the humidity and hot weather, storm clouds are brewing and we are in for some exciting weather! Here are a few pics of the clouds.

View from the house I babysit at.

Closer view of the cloud.

Storm  clouds over lake.

Storm clouds over hay field.

Where light and dark collide.

When an Uncle and Aunt visit after five years.............

There is no end to hugging, especially the uncle who the kids think is a gigantic teddy bear.

My Dad and his sister who is my aunt.

No end to picture taking. (Well there is, it just seems it goes on forever)

Noodle fighting is common.....

And it is impossible for me to get a picture of me alone with my God parents. lol.

It was a great visit and it was very sad to say goodbye, but I'm sure we'll see them again. The little girls kept teasing me about how I used to be scared of my uncle and that he isn't scary at all. I look up at my Godfather and chuckle softly. The best uncles are the scary ones!! It was nice to see my aunt /Godmother again. I'm now taller than her!!  I hope we see them again and that we can have another great Reunion!
